Knitting Project: Wee Cardi by Donna Higgins

Want to knit a sweater, but you aren't sure how to get started? Join Susan Barstein to knit the perfect first cardi for your little one! During this three part class, you’ll learn techniques by knitting the Wee Cardi by Donna Higgins, an adorable top down child's cardigan. It's easy as pie with this three part class!
Level: Advanced Beginner
Required Skills: Must know the basic knitting skills (knitting, purling, casting on, decreasing, increasing, and how to read and follow a simple pattern)
Sizing: 3 mo (6 mo, 12 mo, 2t, 3t, 4t)
Materials Needed:
Worsted yarn for the size of your child's cardigan
Yarn: 2 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4) skeins weepaca by Big Bad Wool (50% fine washable merino / 50% baby alpaca; 95 yds / 86 m)
Note: Smallest size requires exactly 2 skeins. Check your gauge and knit as written to avoid running short.
Needles to fit gauge (US 7 + US 8 circular needles, 24” or longer)
Stitch markers
Tape measure
Tapestry needle
(2) 7/8” buttons for girl version or (5) 5/8” buttons for boy version
Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows over 4 inches using larger needle
Pre-Class Homework:
Purchase Ravelry pattern, materials and yarn
Have yarn wound prior to class so that you are ready to begin in class
Class Schedule Breakdown:
Class 1: Discuss sweater knitting, go over pattern and supplies, then get started with raglan pattern
Class 2: Divide for sleeves and body, continue with pattern
Class 3: Knit sleeves and final touches, finishing techniques
